Angela Sciacchitano | Occupational Therapist

What inspired you to become an OT?

I was always fascinated to learn more about the human body and healthcare; however, I wasn’t sure which career path I wanted to dive into. One day my lovely mum showed me an article on Occupational Therapy and I immediately knew this was something I wanted to pursue. Occupational Therapy provides people with endless opportunities to achieve their goals that enable them to live independent, meaningful lives.

Who do you like to work with?

Throughout my university degree I had the opportunity to work with people across the life span in a wide range of clinical areas. These opportunities allowed me to develop a love and passion for paediatrics. Working with children truly inspires and motivates me to be the best clinician I possibly can be. I really enjoy providing children with the support they need to develop the necessary skills they need to engage and participate in meaningful day-to-day activities.

Favourite hobbies?

I really enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also work as a dance teacher and love sharing my passion for dance with the younger generations.

Greatest accomplishment?

My greatest accomplishment has been finishing my university degree and finding a job that allows me to create positive change in a child’s life that enables them to live a happy and meaningful life.

Also, as a young dancer I had the honour of representing Australia three times in international dance competitions held in Las Vegas Nevada.
