What inspired you to become a speechie?
I have always had a strong desire to work with children and to make an impact on their everyday lives. Communication plays such a large role in our lives and I am so grateful that I am able to assist children in establishing their communication skills, whether that be improving overall language abilities or decreasing speech sound errors. With my own love for communication and a passion for working with children, I don’t think I could have made a better decision to pursue a field in speech-language pathology.
Who do you like to work with?
I enjoy working with children and adolescents with a range of communication difficulties including speech, language, fluency (stuttering), literacy and social skills. I also enjoy supporting those with Developmental Delay and Intellectual Delay, and hearing difficulties.
My favourite pastimes include spending time with family and friends and going on long walks with my dog. I also enjoy volunteering and doing charity work, and love to snuggle up with a good book every night!
Favourite speech games?
My favourite therapy games include “Pop-Up Pig”, “Tumblin’ Monkeys” and barrier games.
