Financial Assistance

Nepean Speech & Occupational Therapy is registered to provide the following financial assistance:

NDIS

We are registered providers with NDIS. We are able to provide assessment, therapy, early intervention, group therapy and assistance in assessing for the purchase of resources under this scheme.

Autism Initiative

For Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), or Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD) may be eligible to a maximum of 4 sessions of funding for an initial assessment and 20 sessions for therapy under the Autism Initiative.

Centrelink Carer’s Allowance

Children under the age of 16 with severe communication difficulties are able to have their parents/carers apply for this allowance. It is not means tested and you are able to have your speech therapist assist in the completion of these forms following an initial assessment.

DSS – ‘Helping Children With Autism Package’

Our practice is registered to provide services under the DSS ‘Helping Children with Autism Package’. We undergo regular training to ensure we can provide the best therapy practice for children accessing this package.

In order to qualify for this funding, your child must be diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and registered with ASPECT prior to commencing primary school and before the age of 7.

DSS – ‘Better Start’

Our practice is registered to provide services under the DSS ‘Better Start Package’. We undergo regular training to ensure we can provide the best therapy practice for children accessing this package.

In order to qualify for this funding, your child must be diagnosed with one of the following disorders –

  • Angelman syndrome
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • CHARGE syndrome
  • Cornelia de Lange syndrome
  • Cri du Chat syndrome
  • Down’s Syndrome
  • Fragile X
  • Kabuki syndrome
  • Microcephaly
  • Moderate-Severe Hearing Impairment
  • Moderate-Severe Vision Impairment
  • Prader Willi syndrome
  • Smith-Magenis syndrome
  • Williams syndrome

You also need to have obtained a CRN from Centrelink.

Medicare rebates

Children with complex and ongoing needs may be eligible for 5 Medicare-funded sessions under the Enhanced Primary Care Plan.

Private Health Funds

We are registered with most major health funds. Many of our fees can be claimed back through your private health insurance if you have ‘extras’ cover. We recommend you contact your fund to discuss your individual situation.

Healthpoint claiming is available at our service – this allows you to claim instant rebates.
