We love working with schools!
It’s so great seeing how the child functions in the school environment, and wonderful being able to work hand in hand with the child’s teacher in order to work out best how the child’s speech/ language delay is affecting their academic progress at school.
Today, more and more people are realising and understanding that language is the backbone of learning.
A child needs proficient speech and language skills in order to do well at school. Reading, writing, listening, and speaking are all forms of language.
Children with speech and language delays can have difficulty with learning to listen, speak, read, and/or write.
They may then struggle with reading, have difficulty understanding and expressing language, misunderstand social cues, avoid attending school.
A child’s teacher is the second most prominent carer in the child’s life, so it’s great to be able to have regular access to the teacher and to give frequent updates on how your child is going.
We also provide different techniques and strategies to the teacher, that they can use to modify their interactions when teaching your child, thus making the learning process easier and far less stressful.
